The planet Mercury is known as "The Messenger," but when this fast-moving orb appears to turn backward in the sky -- as it does three times a year -- a better name might be "The Trickster." That's because during periods of Mercury's retrograde movement, human communication, connections and all sorts of mechanical things can get out of whack.
If you're aware of when Mercury is in a retrograde state, you'll have a better chance of anticipating potential delays and heading off the trickster (allow extra time to get to the airport, for example). Even if this astrological influence wreaks some havoc in your world, it won't last long – Mercury usually stays retrograde for just 22 days at a time.
