Earthy flavors to elevate your taste buds
by chef to the celebrities -- Sabra Ricci
Capricorn and Saturn rule the bones, joints, knees and teeth. Capricorns will find the following food list most beneficial for the well being of their bodies. Anyone with similar health issues, such as arthritis or skin problems, should also indulge in Capricornian fare.
Barley
Barley is very high in fiber. It is also high in selenium, which is a liver detoxifier. Both of these attributes enhance the elimination of toxins and aid in the alleviation of arthritis, from which many Capricorns suffer. A half cup of barley in soup or as a side dish a couple times a week will help keep knees flexible for all arthritis sufferers, Capricornian or not.
Cloves
Cloves are very high in manganese and have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Extracts from cloves have been used by dentists to alleviate pain and support general dental health. These properties make cloves the perfect Capricornian spice for healthy teeth and knees. Everyone can benefit from this support. Cloves can easily be added to foods and drinks throughout the week.
Bananas
Bananas are high in potassium and vitamin B6. Eating bananas increases the body’s ability to absorb calcium, essential for healthy bones and teeth. Other properties lower blood pressure and elevate moods. They also are said to reduce pain and stress. Maybe the saying should be, “A banana a day keeps the doctor away.”
Cabbage
Cabbage is high in vitamin C and chock full of health aids. It is useful for those with arthritis. Cabbage also has anti-aging properties. Many Goats are known to look younger than their age, so this aspect of cabbage will make them exceptionally youthful. Another benefit of this crucifer is that it promotes beautiful smooth skin. Caps certainly don’t want those scaly tails getting out of control, so a few servings a week should suffice. All other signs with any of these ailments should be heading to the cabbage patch, too.
Celery
Celery is a natural source of sodium without all the properties of salt. It is also high in potassium and stops cravings for sweets, making it a great food for Capricorns, as they should forgo sugar for the most part. Besides all the other negative effects of sugar, we don’t want any cavities in those beautiful Capricornian teeth. All other signs that want to show off their pearly whites should also start munching on celery.
Lamb
Lamb may be the perfect meat and source of protein for all signs, not just Capricorns. One 3-ounce serving is loaded with protein, selenium, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins B3 and B12. It is also a prime source of the essential amino acid, tryptophan, which the body uses to produce niacin and serotonin. Lamb is thought to benefit arthritic and skin conditions, reduce anxiety, brighten ones mood, and insure a good night’s sleep. What more could be asked of one small serving?
Spinach
Spinach is an anti-inflammatory, extremely high in vitamin K, that promotes healthy bones. It is also high in manganese, which helps lower blood pressure, making spinach a natural daily addition to the diet of the Capricorn manager. All other executive types in the Zodiac prone to stresses elevating blood pressure should try to get their share of spinach as well.
Walnuts
Walnuts are anti-inflammatory and high in omega-3 fatty acids, making them very effective for arthritis and skin disorders. They are also high in the essential fatty acid arginine that impedes fat absorption. So these popular nuts may contribute to the fact that Goats are rarely overweight. Maybe all the other signs should start having a handful of walnuts for their daily snack.
