The highlight of this dramatic month is the first in a series of five oppositions between conservative Saturn and innovative Uranus on November 4, Election Day in the U.S. The long-term struggle between preserving the past and creating a new future will continue, on and off, until July 10 of next year. Each of us is likely to be pulled between these apparently contradictory forces, wondering whether to hold tight to the limits of current reality or to venture forth to invent a new one. Political and personal polarization can be expected, but the good news is that this process can also provide a chance to meet responsibilities (Saturn) in new and different ways (Uranus) and to provide a solid foundation (Saturn) to support fresh concepts (Uranus). It's easy to fall into the trap of feeling that you must choose between sides when, in fact, the real work is to build bridges between these seemingly opposing forces.
Mental Mercury's entry into Scorpio on the same day brings emotion to thought and communication, adding more fuel to the fire. Passion may overcome reason, yet Scorpio's ability to meld diverse elements can provide the mental magic to blend opposites. Still, this can be a very tricky day with a tense square between active Mars and spacey Neptune on November 4 that could sow the seeds of confusion. If you're overwrought by public or private events, taking deep breaths is better than taking a leap into uncertain activity as the patterns established now can have lasting consequences.
On November 12 vivacious Venus gets serious as she enters responsible Capricorn. While this may cool down the heat of passion, it does provide a more practical and realistic attitude about relationships. This comes in handy as the Full Moon that day finds the emotional Moon in contented Taurus opposite the willful Sun in hungry Scorpio, an event that puts financial and self-worth issues on the front burner. Don't fall victim to your own drama since imaginative Neptune's 90-degree square to the Full Moon blankets reality with clouds of illusion.
The contrast between this dreamy lunation and Venus' entry into no-nonsense Capricorn couldn't be greater. However, a genius Jupiter-Uranus 60-degree sextile on November 12 opens minds to unconventional ideas that can overcome these differences. Active Mars fires into outgoing Sagittarius on November 16, pointing its energetic arrow toward adventure, learning and philosophical pursuits. On November 21, Jupiter and Saturn form a harmonious trine that coordinates the principles of growth (Jupiter) and organization (Saturn) in ways that are excellent for establishing plans and setting strategies. The Sun moves into generous Sagittarius on the same day, reinforcing the message to look beyond the petty issues of the present to aim hearts and minds at long-term solutions. The New Moon in this optimistic sign on November 27 is another rich source of hope. The Sun and Moon are joined by Mercury and Mars that help us to express ideas in ways that can quickly be turned into action. This is a special day in which hope for the future can start to burn away our fears about tomorrow.
